There is no state-level business license that all businesses in PA must obtain. Depending on your business activity, you may need special registrations and/or licenses with a government agency or board.

Below are a few common business activities which require additional steps (not a complete list):

  1. Home Improvement Contracting - Register with the Attorney General's Office.
  2. Childcare - Register with the Department of Human Services.
  3. Food Businesses (e.g., food trucks, convenience stores, restaurants, etc.) - Register with the Department of Agriculture.
